International Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling (2011)

In this context, NCERT is offering an International Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling in collaboration with Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada. The course of one year duration with a unique blend of distance / online and face-to-face modes is open to candidates from India, other SAARC and Afro- Asian countries.

Candidates from different regions of India will be admitted on regional basis at DEPFE, NIE, New Delhi and Regional Institutes of Education at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysore and Shillong.

Applications are invited for admission to the course in the prescribed format from the eligible candidates.

Eligibility for NCERT Admission 2011 :

In- service teachers graduates with teaching degree.
Candidates presently not working graduation with teaching degree and at least two years of teaching or related experience.
Postgraduates in psychology / education / social work / child development / special education. Preference will be given to those with at least one year of teaching or related experience.
Candidates from outside India who are not graduates but have teaching degree are required to have three years of work experience in the relevant area.
Minimum % of marks for all target groups is 50% (5% relaxation for SC / ST).

No. of Seats :

Maximum 50 per study centre. Distribution of seats will be Government deputed candidates 50%, private candidates 20% and candidates from outside India 30%. Reservation apply as per Government of India norms.

Duration and Phasing :

One Year, from 03 January, 2011 to 02 January, 2012.

Guided Self Learning : Six Months (Distance / Online)
Intensive Practicum* : Three Months (Face-to-Face)
Internship : Three Months (in Home Town)
* In-service candidates must ensure that they will attend the full- time three months contact program with due permission from their employers before they take admission.

Medium of Instruction : English. Good command over written and spoken English is required due to international participation.

NCERT Admission Procedure 2011 :

Screening of candidates will be done by a committee following a selection criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be called at the study centre in their region for selection test which includes essay writing and interview.

No TA / DA will be given for travelling to the study centre to attend the selection process.

Course fee to be paid by different categories of candidates is :

Indian Candidates :

Government deputed Rs 3000/- (One time TA to attend the face to face contact program for non local Government deputed will be admissible as per Council's norms).
Private Candidates Rs 10,000/-.
Candidates from outside India : $ 500.

The expenditure for board and lodging during contact program will have to be borne by the candidates. However, facilities for the same will be available.

IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Notification

PATTERN OF IITJEE

Question Papers

There will be two question papers, each of three hours duration. Both the question papers would consist of three separate sections on Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Questions in these papers will be of objective type, which are to be answered on a specially designed machine-gradable sheet (ORS – Optical Response Sheet) using HB pencils only. Incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks.

Language and Font of Question Papers

Candidates can opt for Question Papers either in English or in Hindi. This option should be exercised while filling the application form. It cannot be changed at any later stage.

Visually impaired candidates, on request, will be provided with question papers with 20% enlarged font.

Calculating Aids

Use of log tables and any electronic calculating aids are NOT permitted

Aptitude Test for B.Arch. and B.Des.

Candidates called for counselling and desirous of joining the B.Arch. and B.Des. courses will be required to qualify in an Aptitude Test to be conducted at each counselling institute on ______. The test will consist of one paper of three hours duration – from 10:00 to 13:00 hrs. Candidates who fail to qualify in the Aptitude Test will not be eligible for admission to either B.Arch. or B.Des. courses. Question papers for aptitude test for B.Arch and B.Des will be in English only. The candidate should write the test only once, either on ____ .

ELIGIBILITY FOR IIT JEE 2011

Eligibility: You must make sure that you satisfy all the eligibility conditions given below for appearing in JEE-2011

Date of birth: Candidate belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must be born on or after October 01, 1986 and those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must be born on or after October 01, 1981

Year of passing qualifying examination (QE): Must have passed the qualifying examination, namely, XII standard or any equivalent examination, after 1st October 2009 or in the year 2010 or will be appearing in 2011

Minimum percentage of marks in QE: candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination

Important notes: (i) You can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means you should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2010 or will be appearing in 2011

(ii) If you have accepted admission after qualifying in JEE in earlier years by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISM, Dhanbad, you will not be eligible to write JEE at all, irrespective of whether or not you joined in any of the programmes

Reservation of seats: For SC and ST candidates, respectively 15% & 7.5% seats are reserved in each programme in all the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISM, Dhanbad. Some candidates belonging to these categories who do not qualify in JEE-2010, may be offered admission to the Preparatory course of one-year duration provided (i) seats are available, (ii) candidates satisfy minimum norms, and (iii) candidates have not undergone the preparatory course earlier. Candidates successfully completing the preparatory course will be offered direct admission to the first year in the academic year 2011-12. For OBC candidates belonging to non-creamy layer, 27% seats are reserved in each programme in all the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi and ISM, Dhanbad. Candidates belonging to this category are admitted on the basis of a relaxed criterion.

For candidates with physical disability (PD), including leprosy-cured candidates, and who are otherwise fit to pursue the course, 3% seats are reserved in each of the categories (viz. GE, OBC, SC and ST). Candidates in this category are also admitted under relaxed norms. In case the reserved seats are not filled, a limited number of PD candidates are admitted to a Preparatory course of one year duration on the basis of a further relaxation. Two seats in each institute are preferentially allotted to children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations (DS) and who qualify in the general category.

How to Apply for IIT Joint Entrance Examination ?

Application procedure: A candidate can submit application either on-line through internet or off-line through prescribed (OMR) application form.

(a) On-line: For on-line submission of applications, visit any of the websites given below and carefully follow the instructions given therein. The students can pay the application fee through credit and debit cards of major banks or through challan of selected banks. The reduced examination fee for on-line mode is Rs. _____ for SC/ST/PD/female candidates and Rs. 900/- for all other candidates.

(b) Off-line: A candidate can buy an application form with Information Brochure from any one of the designated branches of banks by paying Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PD/Female candidates (light green envelope) or Rs. 1000/- for all other candidates (light blue envelope). This includes the examination fees. The information brochure contains details regarding application procedure, syllabus of JEE, examination centres, and courses available at various institutions, counseling, fee structure and other relevant information about JEE-2010

The online Common Admission Test (CAT) 2010 will be commencing

The online Common Admission Test (CAT) 2010 will be commencing . October 27, 2010. The online CAT 2010 will be over on November 24, 2010. As per sources, 204267 candidates have registered themselves for the test this year. As many as 19931 candidates are expected to take the test from Delhi alone, sources added.
The online CAT 2010 will be conducted in two sessions each day. The morning session will start at 10.00 am. The second session will start from 3.30 pm. For morning session, candidates are required to report by 8.30 am. However, for the second session, candidates are supposed to report by 2.00 pm. The duration of the test will be two hours and 30 minutes.
As per sources, Prometric, an American based testing firm will conduct the online CAT this year. A representative from Prometric said that they are taking a longer period for technical readiness and extensive operational trials. This includes preparing and testing all the computers that will be used to conduct CAT 2010, representative added.

Further, the representative told that all test centers employees have undergone a certification programme to assist candidates and to ensure smooth conduct of the test. Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to select students for its postgraduate (PG) programmes in management.

Subhash Ghai will be investing Rs 100 crore to open a film school in Haryana

The original showman of Bollywood - producer - director Subhash Ghai will be investing Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crore) to open a film school in Haryana.

The announcement was made after Ghai met Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at Whistling Woods International (WWI) in Mumbai. Various aspects of filmmaking will be taught at this school.

A spokesperson from Ghai’s office Ravi Gupta said, “Yes we have taken over some land in Haryana and talks are on with the government of Haryana to put up entertainment related properties. Besides education we are also looking at consumer oriented properties like maybe a multiplex. We are also in talks with investors and the investments could be made by alliances or strategic investors and it could cost about Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crores) over a period of four to five years.”

According to sources, the institute will be set up within two years at Haryana's Jhajjar district, and would be spread over 20 acres of land.

The online CAT 2010 will be commencing from October 27, 2010 till November 24, 2010. As per sources, the responsibility of organizing the CAT 2010 is with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata and IIM Lucknow.
Himanshu Rai, Convener CAT 2010 and Professor IIM Lucknow, told the sources that with around 30000 registrations, Maharashtra has the highest number of candidates, followed by Uttar Pradesh with around 26000 candidates. In addition, he informed that Uttar Pradesh is followed by Delhi (19000 candidates).

Further, Mr. Rai told that a total of 204267 candidates have registered for CAT 2010, which will be organized in two slots from Oct 27 to Nov 24. As no test will be conducted on festivals and other occasions, CAT-2010 will be a 20-day affair. As per sources, 40 different sets of question papers have been prepared for CAT 2010.
